• Born in Chattanooga, TN, Mike began playing organized basketball in 9th grade at Tyner High Academy under coaching greats Gerald Harris and Kelsey Watson. He also played summer league AAU with Nashville’s Tennessee Tigers, headed by renown coach Chip Smith.
•Out of High School, he signed a scholarship to the University of Connecticut (Uconn). Mike redshirted his freshman year. That year Uconn would go on to win an NCAA National Championship under the phenomenal play and leadership of Kemba Walker and HOF coach Jim Calhoun. After a horrible season ending injury to his right ankle the following year and his grandmother becoming diagnosed with lung cancer, Mike decided to transfer to a smaller school closer to home.
• Mike would eventually sign a scholarship to play at Samford University under the coaching of former Kentucky star and Utah Jazz‘s Scott Padgett.
• After college, he signed to play basketball overseas. His first professional team was Rist Wedel near Hamburg, Germany in the ProB German Basketball League. His second professional team was La Salle Olympic in Cochabamba, Bolivia where he played until he suffered a season ending left wrist injury.
• Mike also credits growing up at TBCH (Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home) from 5th grade into adulthood for his passion and love for helping children.
My primary mission is to use basketball to create personal relationships with the youth in order to teach and demonstrate to them the FUNDAMENTALS of basketball, life, faith, and having good character.
What separates my training from the next is that I specialize in 1on1 lessons and small groups. I believe that I can make the greatest impact via smaller settings, genuine connections, and PERSONAL training vs just filling the gym for profit.
